  About the DVD

Synopsis

In Global Wonders: Mexico Trey and Brianna visit Marisa’s home which is buzzing with activity as her family prepares for a Quinceañera celebration for her sister Anna. The festive atmosphere transforms every room into a world of new discoveries and activities celebrating the vibrant culture of Mexican families: dance the rumba, sample enchiladas, play in a mariachi band, march in a Día de los Muertos parade, and learn about the ancient Aztec legend of Quetzalcoatl. As the day winds down, Anna surprises Marisa with some special gifts that will make her Quinceañera celebration more exciting for all.

Reviews - Global Wonders: Mexico

"The sheer vitality and depth of Mexican history and culture as it is captured here is as spellbinding as it is informative. All this is woven seamlessly and gracefully into the adventures of Marisa, Brianna, and Trey and their families, in such a way that learning is both incidental and natural. Global Wonders: Mexico is rich in cultural and historical facts and is beautifully designed to engage young children in a way that is aesthetically engaging, developmentally appropriate and educationally enriching."-- Dr. J.K. Nugent, Child Development Expert. Founder, Brazelton Institute, Childrens Hospital, Boston and Harvard Medical School

"This is a great video for introducing Mexican culture to children. I was able to screen a copy with my five year old daughter. She was fascinated with the entire video. She loved the characters, the music, and "real life" footage. It moves along at a great pace able to cover Mexican music, food, "Dia de los Muertos", a Quinceanera, Aztec & Mayan history ....and more. My daughter also enjoyed playing along with the interactive component and learning some Spanish vocabulary along with the characters. This is a great educational video but so much fun. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!" -- CB Clark, Los Angeles, California

"A Fabulous Way to Introduce Culture to Children (and Adults)!!, I get bored with most children's videos. Really. So imagine my surprised interest during "Around the World". Hence, my first review... I received a screener copy of "Around the World" at one of their shows. Global Wonders has done a great job with providing a cross-cultural, educational, entertaining experience. The kids wanted more, I WANTED MORE!! ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND!" -- Krista, Pasadena, California

"My four year old daughter loves this series. Like most four year old girls, she can be very picky (about everything!) and this is her hands down favorite things to watch. While being very entertaining (some of the Baby and Little Einstein people are the creative forces behind this), this is also a great educational experience. Our daughter has asked us to learn more about some of the themes touched on in this series. Overall, this is very highly recommended." -- Debbie

"Add Global Wonders to your holiday gift list! Kids will enjoy watching the characters play, sing, and share experiences. A great way to build connections to a positive global community." -- Examiner.com

"As the world grows smaller -- and children grow smarter -- along comes Global Wonders, a warm and delightful new series that joyfully invites kids to open the door to the glorious diversity of our international family. Colorfully animated, cleverly scripted and crammed with live-action clips that depict the rich tapestry of our shared world culture, Global Wonders is destined to take its place among the best and brightest of children's entertainment. I love this series!" -- Bruce Kluger, Parenting Magazine
